Fall Race Guide

Treading With PaigeJuly 23, 2019

How are we approaching Fall already?! Time flies when you’re having fun… or working a lot. Ha! I’ve updated this year’s Fall Race Guide and am excited to cross a couple more off of my bucket list. Check out the list below for a handful of the best races in the area.

Vine Wine’d Trail Run

Saturday October 5, 2019 in Fennville

…This updated race guide is starting to develop a theme… Ha Ha! In all honestly, this one sounds fantastic! Choose between a 10k, 5k or 1 mile course wine’ding through vineyards, meadows, and numerous forested ecosystems. Wine tasting and entertainment awaits you at the finish line and if you’ve got energy to spare, you can take on the grape stomp contest or stick around for the post-race party including live music from the Big Love Band.

  • Registration Fee: TBD
  • Not interested in running? For $15 you get a meal ticket, Fenn Valley wine glass, a glass of wine or sparkling grape juice and entertainment!

The Great Pumpkin Run (5k):

Saturday October 12, 2019 @ Riverside Park

NEW LOCATION! This Fall fun-run will now be taking place at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. Although no longer in an Apple Orchard, you will still be awarded with an awesome hoodie, a glass of apple cider and your very own small pumpkin when you cross the finish line. Better yet, if you run WITH that pumpkin you become eligible for an additional finisher’s medal.

  • Limited Availability
  • Registration Fee (5k): $40

Alger Heights Halloween 5/10k:

Saturday October 26, 2019 in Alger Heights

Two of my favorite things- running and Halloween. Seriously, who doesn’t love an excuse to dress up? This race course takes you through the neighborhood of Alger Heights, twice if you’re doing the 10k. I love the simplicity of this Halloween race and it’s dedication to promoting the local neighborhood. Dress up, sweat it out and give back to your local community! Half of the proceeds are given back to the Alger Heights Neighborhood Association and the other, to partners at MyTeam Triumph to whom provide a ride-along experience for road racing and triathlons to individuals with disabilities.

  • Registration Fee (5k) $30, (10k) $40

Grand Rapids Hot Cider Hustle:

Saturday, November 9, 2019 @ Millennium Park

I’m not necessarily a cider person, but for a picture with an inflatable mug and one of my own, I very well could be! This race is definitely at the top of my races to run list for the year. The 5k course takes you through Millennium Park in downtown Grand Rapids with hot cider and caramel apples awaiting you at the finish line. I may be a little biased but the fact that this race’s charity partner is the Humane Society of West Michigan makes the potentially brutal race temperatures seem a little more bearable.

  • Registration Fee: $36.99 (5K) PRICE INCREASE on 8/14

Zeeland Turkey Trot 8k

Thursday November 28, 2019 in Zeeland

If you are looking for an awesome sweat session on Thanksgiving day, a Turkey Trot is definitely the way to go! We’ve participated in one almost every year and last year was no exception as first time participants in the Zeeland 8k. I absolutely loved the energy of this race– not to mention, how much better I felt about the extra calories consumed later on in the day. I think it’s safe to say that chilling temperatures make you run faster and this course, despite a couple of hills was the perfect place to crush a PR!

  • Registration Fee: (5k) $30 PRICE INCREASE on 9/15

**If you’re not a runner but want to be apart of the fun, you can find volunteer links on each of the websites listed above!

Still Fun… But Definitely More Experienced Races:

Holland Haven Marathon

Sunday September 8, 2019 in Holland

It’s been awhile since I’ve put on a rice bib but I think it’s time to train again and I’m excited to be doing so for the Holland Haven 8k. Additional options include the full marathon and half marathon (currently sold out) courses. Runners follow the scenic Lakeshore Drive past the beaches and into the City of Holland– where I will be anxiously awaiting my free banana! Want to join me!? Sign up NOW! Prices increase on June 1st.

  • Registration Fee: (8k) $45, (Half) $85–waiting list only, (Full) $105

If you have any races that need to be added to my ever-growing bucket list, I’d love to hear about them! Shoot me a message or direct link to the race sign up here! Now, get out there and get sweaty. Enjoy!

XX, Paige
