3 Reasons to Leave!
Have you ever experienced a moment where you felt as if you were exactly where you were supposed to be? Like a bigger picture was unfolding right in front of your eyes? Okay, maybe not that dramatic but you get the picture! Last week at church was just that for me. So let me paint the picture for you.
As I opened the service outline that morning, the first sentence read “Achieving greatness will require you to leave.” *jaw drop* Just one week after deciding to walk away from my job, I got a little bit comfier in my seat knowing that this message was undoubtedly one for me. Whether you are a believer in a spiritual being, fate or none of the above, it was no coincidence that I was sitting in that seat listening to the words I was about to hear for a reason and I hope you that you, like me, can find comfort in the lessons I was reminded of that day.
1. Don’t be paralyzed by the “what ifs”. What if I fail? What if I am embarrassed, or it makes things difficult? What if I am dismissed or face uncertainty? But what if you don’t? What if you succeed? What if what’s waiting around the corner is everything you’ve always wanted? Is the risk not worth the reward? Would you rather spend your life questioning the outcome instead of pursuing the journey? Take a chance! Step, jump, leap or skip out of the comfort zone that keeps holding you back and choose to grow into what could potentially be the best decision of your life.
2. Choose faith over fear. You know how the saying goes.. “there are far better things ahead than we leave behind…” If you don’t believe that, take a moment to look back on your life thus far. I can assure you that, looking back on mine, the same girl that hid behind the mask of who she thought she was supposed to be is not the same girl that is sitting here, peeling away the layers of shame and years of grief in hopes that she can help others heal the same. The girl that feared vulnerability and what others thought of her is not the same girl that now chooses to have faith through uncertainty knowing that there is a bigger purpose for her that is meant to be served. So I ask you, are you choosing to be fearful of your fate or will you choose to be faithful of your purpose?
3. Trust God with your future. You and I know that life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies, but I hope by now you too know that the sun will shine even after the darkest days. Whether you are in a season of confusion, uncertainty or maybe one of contentment, know that your path has already been paved for you. I believe that although you hold the key, God will be the one leading you to the door. He always gives us an incentive to leave where we are to go where he wants us to be. So, GO! You are destined for amazing things and I hope that as you navigate through each season, you never forget to trust the one who’s already seen it through.
Carry on, warriors.
